Your 2010 membership fees are now due. Please complete a membership renewal/application form and send it to our treasurer Geoff Dingley (his address is on the form).
The form is available as a MS Word document (which you can complete on your computer and just print, sign and send, or as a PDF which you can print and complete by hand.
Members under 18 also need to return a Parental Consent form.

ballroom blitz
Our 1940s night promises to be a bit different and a bit special. With fancy dress, a fashion show, competitions and live music to dance to, all proceeds will go to the Royal British Legion's Poppy Appeal.

Congratulations to Helen Scott and Jess Varnish for winning the Womens' Team Sprint at the National Track Championships. An outstanding result for the Halesowen girls.
Helen and Jess also medalled in other Sprint events and their performance in the Team Sprint was truly outstanding. BC Report here
annual general meeting
Our AGM will be held on Monday 2nd November at 7:30pm in the clubhouse at Manor Abbey Stadium. All members are welcome - although only Senior (ie, over 18) members can vote.

Congratulations to our own Jess Booth, who repeated her medal-winning ride of last year to take Gold again and win the European U23 Team Pursuit.
who let the dogs out?
Please note that dogs are not permitted at Manor Abbey stadium. We have had some reports of dogs being excercised in the woods and on the banks, and regrettably we have also found hard (or not so hard) evidence of this.
Please leave them at home.

a tale of two jesses - part one
Congratulations to Halesowen's very own Jess Booth, who has been selected to ride for GB in the European Junior Road championships and Time Trial.
She has also been selected again to ride for GB in the U23 European Track Championships in Belarus, where she will defend her Gold medal in the Team Pursuit.
Jess Varnish has also been selected to ride for GB in the U23 track championships. She has now been selected as Jnr, U23 and senior for GB.

The 2009 British Schools Cycling Association Grass Track National Championships are on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th May, at Friary Grange in Lichfield. Entries close May 10th! More details here.

jess goes dutch again
An absolutely superb ride to take 2nd in the Women's Sid Standard Memorial race at Nottingham on Sunday also secured Halesowen Junior superstar Jess Booth a place in the Junior Women's GB Team for the Omloop Van Borsele (Dutch site) in Holland this coming weekend 24th - 27th April.
All the National Teams will be there and the whole family are going to support her too. Good luck Jess!

Great riding again from Halesowen this Easter despite difficult conditions and rain stopping play on Good Friday and Easter Saturday.
Congratulations to Tom Gregory who won the Devil at the world famous Good Friday meeting at Herne Hill; and to Joe Feiven who won a fierce sprint in the Youth Omnium handicap race at Portsmouth on Saturday.

We have quite a few British Cycling membership cards and Racing Licences. These are sent directly to us by British Cycling for onward distribution to members. If you are expecting your new membership/Licence, please check with Club Secretary Angela Gregory before you contact British Cycling.

early season success
A great start for our riders in March. We won the Youth A, Youth D and 3/4 races at the Paramount Shrewsbury circuits this weekend (James Locker, Joe Feiven and Tom Gregory) with podium placings in the U12s and U8s and strong representation in the E/1/2s.
Emily Kay took Gold in the Yarborough Youth National Circuit Series on Sunday.

Halesowen A & CC star Jess Varnish has been selected to ride for the GB team at the Track World Championships at Pruszkow in Poland.

Congratulations to everyone who rode in the West Midlands Cyclo-Cross League ( WMCCL) this winter.
Halesowen took the Team trophy for a record third successive year with a massive 434 point advantage, accruing 1369.5 points to second placed Wolves' 935.2 points.
Rising Stars Cameron Biddle and Jack Ravenscroft took Gold in the U12s and U14s respectively - and both have another year to go in their categories. Lorna Sharples was first under 8 girl, and Daniel Harris won Gold in the Juniors with Ian Grant taking Bronze.
We had Silver and Bronze in the U10s with Joe Feiven winning four races outright, Jacob James took Silver in the youth and we achieved Silver in the Ladies thanks to a superb series of rides from Nerys Rollinson.
freewheelers half-term activities
It's back to base for the under-12s this week. There's a normal Sunday morning (15th) session 10 - 12:30 either track or cyclocross depending on the weather.
Brian is also coaching sessions on Wednesday and Friday mornings 10-12. Tuesday and Thursday evenings continue as usual.
The following Sunday (22nd) is the final round of the WMCCL at Daventry.

Congratulations to Jess Wieckowski who, with partner Dannii King, took Gold in the 20Km vets/women/youth Madison at Newport. Medals and other great performances from other Halesowen riders too. More in the Clubroom.

Halesowen member Helen Scott narrowly missed out in the qualifying 200m flying time trial for the women's sprint competition at Copenhagen yesterday (13th February).
Helen is riding for team GB at the Track World Cup - her first appearance for GB at International level.

If you haven't yet renewed your membership for 2009, we urge you to do so without delay. We have a large number of 2009 racing licences which we cannot release until your club membership is renewed. A form is available here.

The Annual Presentation Evening at the Hilton Hotel, Bromsgrove on Friday 4th November was very well-supported. There's lots of photos in the gallery!

The club's agm on Monday 3rd November saw the election of a committee for 2009, as well as approval of the Annual Report and Accounts.
After the AGM, an Open Forum allowed a lively debate on several issues raised by members.

Congratulations to Jess Varnish on her outstanding performances at the Track World Cup at Manchester.
Jess and Team Mate Anna Blyth took Gold in the Team Sprint, and Jess also acquited herself very well in the Sprint and Kieran events.
halloween night
Our Halloween party at the Clubhouse on Friday October 31st was a great success. Most people came in fancy dress - those who didn't had to pay Angela 50p 'Saddo tax '!
