It is just two weeks before the Velo Birmingham Sportive is due to travel through Halesowen with 15000 cyclists swarming down Mucklow Hill.
Cllr Hilary Bills suggested some time ago we, as the local cycling Club, should encourage our members to gather on Earle's Island to give the riders a cheer and I think will be attending. Local councillor, Cllr David Vickers has also said he is likely to have a walk over.
I think this is a great opportunity for our young free wheel and bronze riders/parents to be inspired by seeing such a large group of riders many of whom will be our members. I know as a rider it is great to have support from the road side. In view of the fact Velo Birmingham are giving our Club support, including a donation to our clubhouse fund, it would be good to have a great turnout.
The first wave of 15000 riders will start off from Birmingham at 0700 and the last riders will depart around 0900. I would suggest you aim to gather from around 0730 or whatever time parents feel comfortable about.
Please do your best to put the word around.
